I'm a little behind schedule today but better late than never, right?? Got a few things done this weekend like blinds going up in the guest bedroom...
I also got my cute little monkey in the mail from 20x200. Not sure where in the guest bedroom he is going yet.. but don't you love him??
The funny this about this weekend is that I decided to take Saturday away from the computer, blogs, e-mail and Craigslist. Sounded like a good idea at the time. Wrong. Look what I missed on CL...
Posted Saturday. 11 am on the dot. Ironic, eh? Guess I won't be taking any more breaks.

Picasso Returns :)
After the painting I did in Monday's post, I was feeling pretty good about my art skills so I tried my hand at a couple of ink drawings this time, again from Anthro. I have been admiring them for a while and knew they would be perfect for my hallway!
{If you think you see me holding up a piece of cardboard to cover the light and reduce the glare in the reflection of the glass then you are right}
And for the inspiration images...
Who really has $1000 to spend on a couple of pieces of paper with some scribbles on them?

Master Design Board
Happy Wednesday! I have another design board for you today and this one is for a master bedroom. She got a great deal on the West Elm overlapping squares headboard so wanted to work around that and was going for a neutral color scheme. Here is what I came up with!
If you would like a design board of your own, email me at michelle.leigh.henderson {at} gmail.com!

DIY Monogrammed Pillow
I saw this tutorial over at k.f.d. designs and knew it would be perfect for the guest bedroom! Check out her post for the full tutorial and I will give my two cents here :)
I started by tracing my monogram straight from the computer screen onto paper.
Then used spray glue to attach the paper to the felt. {which really is genius by the way... this way you don't have to trace and leave marks, etc} Then just cut those babies out!
Annnd this is where my two cents comes in. Don't use too much spray glue or you will end up with this when the paper comes off... A little goes a long way here.
After round 2 we have this... much better!
Then a little hot glue and voila! A custom monogrammed pillow!
Did you see the new striped pillows, too? I ordered a couple from West Elm and love the way it looks! A nice way to add the pattern and color without buying the full sheet set. {I will just use white sheets}
And yes, I do still realize it is just a box spring on the bed. I promise we are taking care of this soon! Probably even tonight!!

Just call me Picasso
I am getting close to wrapping up the guest bedroom and needed some art for the walls. I have been lusting over this piece from Anthro for quite some time and decided it was time to recreate it!
I went with a deeper blue than the original because the light blue reads a little baby boy room to me. {I know it looks black in the picture, but its blue!}
What do you think? I am pleased since it only cost me about $15 and the original is $2000. Now I just need a frame! I also have a special piece of artwork on the way that I can't wait to share!!

Welcome to the 21st Century...
Thanks to my wonderful husband who surprised me with an iPhone, I feel like I have been initiated into the modern technical world. It is the most amazing thing. Ever. So of course the first thing I did was shop for a cute cover and just in case any of you missed this one, I just had to share!
Dani Notes Stationery sells these amazing covers that are graphic, colorful and so fun. Oh and did I mention they are monogrammed?! It just doesn't get any better than that! Now... which color/combo to choose?
Am I the last one to know about these and to get an iPhone?

Guest Post: Joi from Nuestra Vida Dulce
Today I have Joi with us to share her coffee table and a few decorating tips! She has an adorable blog that is one of my favorite reads. Check it out here. Without further adieu, here is Joi's fabulous coffee table!
Don't you love it! Below she tells us where she got it all and a few tips for creating your own stylish coffee table!
-I scored the coffee table for $20 at a garage sale. It's been one of my favorite finds to date. : )
-I bought the wicker planter from West Elm, the tray is from HSN.com, the vases are from IKEA, the books are from various places, and the white bird is from Michael's, and the artichoke is from a local furniture store.
-My tips are:
1. Try groupings of items for a more cohesive look.
2. Use books without their covers. They look good and you usually have some lying around your home!
3. Bring in a tray to rope together your coasters, magazines, and remotes. It helps keep things grounded.
4. If you have room, add a plant. I love the look of wicker mixed in with a brass coffee table. The textures really play off of one another.
Thanks Joi!

Weekend Recap
What a wonderful weekend it was! With temperatures slowly rising, the snow is finally disappearing! Since it was so nice out, I took advantage and sprayed a side table for the guest bedroom. I used this nightstand in college and think I picked it up at Ross for around $20 a few years ago.
I decided to go black and leave the bamboo table as is {thanks, Joi!} The paint is still a little wet in this picture. I wanted to photograph it before I ran out of light!
Here is what it looked like before...
I also picked up a few accessories for my bathroom!
The jar is from World Market and the tray is from an antique store. I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Oh and Happy Valentine's Day :)

Guest Bedroom Update
A few new purchases have made their way into the room... a little color, finally! I told you about this rug a few weeks ago here and it finally found a home!
I also picked up a few of the pillows I showed you Tuesday for the bed. {Yes, I realize that is just a box springs on the bed right now. It is a long story and will be fixed soon...}
The nightstand on the left side of the bed isn't staying. I have something a little taller that is getting a new paint job. I will share next week!
Want to see more post on the guest bedroom? Check them out here, here and here.

Design Board Guest Bedroom
Happy Wednesday! I think I might start devoting most Wednesdays to client work. How would you like that?
This client had already purchased the colorful bedspread seen in the board and needed help pulling the rest of the room together with a "beachy" feel. I love the way it turned out!
Need help decorating? Email me at michelle.leigh.henderson {at} gmail.com.

Weekend Finds
Hubs and I decided to take a last minute trip back to Oklahoma this weekend so he could go hunting and I could go shopping with my momma. We hit up a few thrift stores in Edmond and here's what I came home with!
This will be one of the nightstands in the guest bedroom and will be getting a coat of paint. It was originally $30 but it was half price day {who knew?!} so I got it for a whopping 15 bucks.
This lamp, which my mom actually spotted, was so cool I just couldn't leave it there! It has already been deemed the "acorn" lamp by my husband and his cousin... How much was it you ask? $10. Yes, please! Not quite sure where it is going yet...
Did you do anything fun this weekend?

Guest Room Bed
We put the bed together for the guest bedroom and I love it! I have been eying this bed from IKEA for quite some time now and knew it would be perfect for the room!
I know it is a lot of white right not but trust me, it won't stay this way for long.
I received the tray I ordered from Furbish that will serve as the color inspiration for the room... I am getting excited!
