Evolution of a Room

Hi dolls! Trying out another new series today. It is really just to keep me accountable on working on my master bedroom, but will also show you how a room transforms, piece by piece.
Should be fun!

I am a little embarrased to show you the before and must give the disclaimer that I have done nothing in here besides buy a bed and finish a couple of nightstands. Otherwise, this room has had no love at all!

As you can see, we started with a plain (cheap!), white duvet and some pillows that came with the couch we bought... I know, I know. That really is ridiculous. Now that I think about it, I should have grabbed some pillows from the living room and threw them on there, but I am trying to keep it real here!

So remember last week when I blogged about the duvet from Lands End? Well it came in and I LOVE it! It is linen and makes the bed seem so much more luxurious.

Fun fact: The bottom of the duvet is actually the same color as the trim, which I totally love! You can turn it over if you want a little more color!

So are you on board with this series? Interested in seeing a new element of the master bedroom every week? I sure hope so, because it might be the only way I ever get it done!
We have a loooong way to go!

Up next week? Bed accessories!

DIY: Ikea Lack

Happy Monday, friends! Today I have a fun IKEA hack for you. This one was super easy
but a little time consuming. In the end, it was definitely worth the time
because it makes such a huge impact!

My inspiration came from this photo. I first tried to use nailheads, which didn't work. Then I tried thumbtacks, but they were too big. And then hit it me! Why not use brads?!

Supplies:

Brads (you can find them in the scrapbooking section at any craft store)
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun
Lack Table

All you have to do is cut the back of the brads off (yes, regular scissors do work) and glue
them on following the pattern! Super simple.

Send pictures if you try it, I would love to see how it turns out! Check back tomorrow for a new series!

Outfit to Room

This is a new series I am going to try à la Domino. The older (and wiser!) I get, the more I realize that style infuses every aspect of your life and not just interiors or fashion. While my passion is interior design, I also have a love of the fashion industry and believe that being well dressed is as equally important as having a well styled home as they both speak to who you are. You can find great inspiration for your home while looking in your closet; every piece is a style indicator and relates to your aesthetic. When it comes down to it, style is really about lifestyle and it make sense to coordinate every aspect!

Blouse - Forever 21 / Jeans - Banana Republic / Shoes - DSW
Necklace - DahliaLynn / Watch - Piperlime / Clutch - Standard Style

Let me know what you think! I welcome feedback, especially when trying out new things. Happy Friday!

Trendy: Red/Coral Bordered Duvet

While trimmed bedding has been around for a while (forever, even?) it seems that red/coral has been sort of the go-to lately for designers and bloggers alike. I love this because, while I l-o-v-e red, it is such a bold color that it can easily be shied away from... especially in the bedroom! This is the perfect pop of color while still getting the notorious white bedding that everyone loves so dearly.

You can go custom with it like Jenny did or you can buy this stunner from Lands End!

I might have ordered one for our bedroom...can't wait to share!

Etsy Seller nicolekate has this amazing series of 3 charcoal nudes that I definitely have my eye on!

Tip: Keep them in the more personal spaces of your home like the bedroom and bathroom. But if you dare, put them anywhere!! (Yes, I can rhyme!)

BTW- Please don't Google things like, "Nude photos in bedroom." Trust me, you will thank me later.

The Bench That Broke My Heart

I recently found a beautiful vintage chinoiserie bench on Etsy, which would have been PERFECT for our master bedroom! I was thinking on it a few days and never dreamed someone would snatch it out from under me! Well, that is what happened. I am seriously heart broken over it.

Let this be a lesson to you. If you love something, buy it! Anyone else have problems with this?

I Need a Vote!

Trying to decide exactly how to transform my Ikea Malm dresser in my bedroom and I am torn between two ideas. That's where you come in! Opinions, please!

Option 1 (via Design Manifest):

Option 2: This would be white on white and with completely different (brass?) hardware.

Thoughts?
