Vintage Moroccan

Let's talk rugs today.. I am almost finished (mentally) decorating our new house but the first room we are actually going to take on is the basement, which is where we will watch TV and drink! It has it's own fancy bar... well, it isn't fancy yet, but it will be! We want to get that finished as a sort of "hideway" before we get started with renovations upstairs. I promise to share pictures with you guys Anyways, I have been looking for a vintage moroccan rug and I have come to the conclusion that they are just ridiculously expensive! I have yet to find a reasonable one... I have of course fallen in love with the following from Madeline Weinrib

So my question to you guys is where in the world can I find something similar for a reasonable price? Any ideas?

  1. Holy Smokes, they're all awesome, but I'm in love with the orange one!  Have you tried Ebay?  My Sis-in-law gets some amazing rugs on Ebay.

  2. Oh Michelle I love that first one!!!  Gorgeous.  Thank you for the introduction to Madeline Weinrib.  Unfortunately I don't know any affordable vendors besides Rugs USA.... but I doubt you could find something as pretty as these.  Good luck!  I know the basement will look fab.

  3. A few things in this post made me laugh. 1. "Finished decorating (mentally)" - haha totally know where you are coming from on that! and 2. "Where we will watch TV and drink..." - yes, a designated drinking spot is a must for every home :) Literally cannot wait to see your new house! eeeee super exciting!

  4. definitely ebay. two good sellers are turkish_rugs and turkishkilim. I'm aware that moroccan and turkish are different but the rugs are similar in color and style.

  7. Right now West elm has a beautiful Souk Rug for sale, that has the same vibe as many Moroccan rugs I've been seeing. I don't know if its exactly what you're looking for, but I love it! Here's the link: http://www.westelm.com/products/souk-rug-b865/?pkey=crugs-flooring

  11. You picked some serious eye candy for those rug choices! The dual fringe on that second rug is spawning some ideas. Why have a single colored fringe on anything when you can have two? Fabulous. Hope you closed on that house of yours. I know it's frustrating. It happened again and again with ours. Some random piece of paperwork that always had to be tied up...

  13. New to your blog- love it and these rugs! I found this one on eBay although it's not big http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOROCCAN-KILIM-BERBER-HAND-MADE-WOOVEN-RUG-ATLAS-RUG-/310263171390?pt=US_Area_Rugs&hash=item483d20493e#ht_500wt_922

ALSO try world market, they have a good version of the white moroccan rug for fraction of the price. Good luck!!
