Before and After: Doors

I saw this project a long time ago on Design*Sponge and have been wanting to try it ever since. So we finally got around to completing one door.

We started with this:



We bought trim at Home Depot and attached it to the door after sanding:



A few coats of black paint later... and BAM!





Remind me why I didn't do this sooner?? Only 8 more to go... oh and still need handles!

Craigslist Campaign Dresser

**Update: BAD news. Someone else already snatched it up!! It was posted late last night and by the time I contacted the seller this morning at 10:30, they had already arranged pickup! I guess I am not the only one searching for one in KC :(

After searching for months, I have FINALLY found a campaign dresser on the local CL. Hopefully they still have it! I'll keep you updated!!

Recent Purchases

While reading my blog list yesterday, I saw that Jaime over at i suwannee posted some new lovelies to her shop. So I headed over and what to my wondering eyes did appear?! A whole lot of fantasticness. No surprise there.

I couldn't decide between a Chiang Mai tray


or a Contessa Tray



So there was, of course, only one way to solve that dilemma... buy one of both! I am pretty sure I will be using the Chiang Mai in the guest bedroom to serve as the color inspiration.

Guest Bedroom Update

Finally have the ceilings scraped and the paint up! How rewarding :) In case you forgot what it looked like before, here is another view:



And here we are now. The paint color is Glidden Muslin White. On a side note, I hate Glidden paint and will be getting it color matched next time.


Up next is a special door project, crown molding and a new light fixture! Oh and there might be some stripes, too.

KC Blogger Meetup

This weekend I had the opportunity to meet five other beautiful and talented bloggers from the Kansas City area! We had a fantastic meal at Blanc Burger {truffle fries, anyone??} and got to talk shop a little. It was a blast and I can't wait to meet up again!

Breakfast Nook Update

Remember when I showed you my design board for the kitchen? I am not finished but wanted to share some of the progress.

This is what we started with in the VERY beginning. This picture was taken before we even bought the house.

This is just bad...

I have made a pact with myself to paint one of our guest bedrooms this weekend. I feel so bad for anyone who comes to stay with us because we have done absolutely nothing to it. I embarrassed to admit I have let this go on for so long... but hey, I have to share the good and the bad, right?



Goal for the weekend? Paint the walls and scrape the popcorn ceilings... Are you tackling any projects this weekend?

New Additions!

We have growth!

I recently decided to plant some cilantro and basil so my husband and I would have some fresh herbs for cooking. I started with seeds and for some reason I always feel like they aren't going to grow?! But... we have sprouts! I am pretty sure it is the cilantro so still waiting for the basil.





Does anyone else grow any fresh herbs?

I went to Target again and couldn't help but notice these fantastic kitchen towels by Dwell. Aren't they cute?! Alright, I will leave you alone about Target now.

Colette Look-a-Like

I, like everyone else, love the Colette bed from Crate and Barrel. I have seen a few good knock offs posted in the blogosphere like the one from Urban Home. But the bad part about this bed is that it doesn't ship everywhere and if it does, costs an arm and a leg! But low and behold, I have found the perfect knockoff!!! The best part? $2.95 shipping :)

It is on Overstock {with a very high sell out risk!}, costs $873 for the King and $799 for the Queen. The pricier C&B versions are $1899 and $1699. I don't think I have ever clicked add to cart so fast! Plus, the reviews are fantastic.

I spy... blue and white at Target!

Ran into Target today to pick up some groceries and of course had to make a stop by the home decor aisle. To my surprise, they had spring stuff out and I love it! Blue and white {which I have been considering for my bedroom... more on that later}.
