A little thrifting style

While running errands today, I had the hubs drop me off at Savers so I could do a little walk through. After finding nothing in the home aisle, I did something out of character... checked out the clothes!!! *GASP* I guess all these brilliant style bloggers have gotten to me :)

I found TWO fantastic blazers for a total of $15. It really doesn't get much better!

I am totally excited about the prospect of finding more clothes while thrifting. New hobby?!

BTW- new kitchen countertops going in tomorrow morning (good b-day present!!). Also, almost done with my greek key dresser, which means more design related posts soon, promise!

Woah.

Thank you Urban Outfitters for offering 5 x 7 chevron rugs for $69!!! I want to order two of the gray to put under my dining room table next to each other and of course that is the one color that is backordered until August. I think I will go ahead and place my order anyway! I don't want to settle.

Check it out, folks.

The campaign dresser is mine!!!

For those of you who have been reading this blog for a while, you know I have been searching for a campaign dresser for months! Well it was finally my lucky day last week. The sweetest reader e-mailed me about a campaign dresser she spotted on Craigslist in Oklahoma, which is where I am from. I reluctantly called to see if it was still available and it was!! I could hardly believe it! Thanks again, Chelsea! Also, a big thanks to my father in law for picking it up for me!

It needs a little work but will definitely be worth it. I can't wait to get started! Has anyone else scored anything from Craigslist lately?

DIY overdyed rug

I normally try to post original content here, but this one is too good not to share. Kristen over at k.f.d. designs took an old $5 goodwill rug into something beautiful and current, which can be easily replicated! This is an especially good project because rugs are so expensive AND you can customize to whatever color your heart desires!

Check out her post for the full instructions. If someone attempts this, please let me know! An old oriental rug is now on my list of things to look for!

THE List

I mentioned yesterday that we are selling our house soon, with soon being a relative term. Right now, we are devoted to finishing this house so we are ready to sell when the time is right. That being said, we made a list {this is about the only way I get things done} and hung it on the fridge so we are constantly reminded of what needs to be done.

Anyone else have a scary long list?

Some things are currently in process:
-Kitchen cabinets are being painted
-Countertops have been ordered
-Sink is bought

All things of which will be shared with you soon! Get excited!

Black Trim. Yes or no?

When repainting the guest bedroom, I wanted to try out a little black trim around the door frames. I LOVE the way it turned out but husband vetoed it before I could even get a word out. Now, to his defense, we are going to be selling this house in the near future and that definitely might not be appealing to all. But, I wanted to see what you all thought of it? Is this something you would ever do? Maybe in my next house :)

Oh, and please excuse the mess in the closet!

Back in action: Gardening 101

Sorry for the lonnnnnnng break, guys. I have been a little overwhelmed with life lately, with job searching/trying to figure out my next move. Don't you feel that way sometimes?

Anyway, in the meantime hubs and I have been doing some work around the house and since it is getting warmer out, that involves planting! I honestly don't know much about landscaping at all but have recently came across a little tip for outdoor planters. {This very well be something that all of you already know and if so, sorry!}

The concept is called thrillers, fillers and spillers and it is basically just that. Choose a tall plant, normal flowers and a flowing vine and stick them all in one pot for a fool proof planter! I put together a couple on the back patio.

Aren't you glad spring is here?!
