Evolution of a Room

Is the weekend already over?! I did get quite a few things done, at least. I am a little overdue for a bedroom update! This project took SO much longer than I expected it too and I am so glad to be done!

Yes, I jumped on the shim mirror bandwagon. It is such a great, inexpensive DIY!

Here is where we left off last time in the evolution of my bedroom.

I am getting totally desperate. Seeing as our contingent contract is up in about a week if the buyer's don't sell their home, I will seriously try anything. That includes burying a mini St. Joseph statue upside down in my front yard and praying to it every day.

Has anyone ever done this? I have heard good things from a few friends. Tell me your stories!! The hubs thinks I have really lost it this time... Also good vibes/thoughts/prayers are definitely appreciated at this point!

Well it's the first day of Lent... what is everyone giving up?! I have decided to give up soda... I know, so cliche. But I really need to quit!! Today we have a little fur + snakeskin. It is quite the combo!

I have totally fallen in love with Dahlia Lynne Tassel Earrings! Aren't they so fab?! I have a little confession to make... I got my ears pierced last August! I know, I know. Crazy! I have had them done before but let them grow out and haven't had them pierced in years!

Any easy way to incorporate this look into your decor? Just add a tassel to any old lamp and give it new life! A fun an inexpensive way to add that extra special detail! And of course this Chevron Lamp is to die for!

Tutorial - Gel Nail Manicure

Happy Monday! A couple of my girlfriends were in town for the weekend and one of them brought her gel nails kit, which is similar to shellac (thanks, Dal!). I tried it out and I am officially hooked. In fact, I love it so much I wanted to share with you guys even though this isn't my normal "genre" if you will. Hope you like it!

Supplies:

Nail File

Gel Base Coat

Gel Color Coat

Gel Top Coat

UV Light

Alcohol (NOT Acetone)

The first step is to use the black side of the file to buff your nails a bit so the base coat has a rougher area to stick to.

After buffing, put on the base coat.

Then, put each hand in the light for 1 minute.

Then two coats of the color, using the light for 1 minute on each hand after the first coat and after the second coat.

Then one coat of the top and 1 minute of light after on each hand.

Lastly, the magic step. Take rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and rub it on your nails like you are trying to take off the polish. This removes the film on the nails.

Now you are done!! So pretty!

Evolution of a Room

Happy Monday! I hit a little snag on the DIY so I will be sharing that later this week...hopefully! I did get some artwork up in the bedroom above one of the nightstands. There is a window over the other other, so no art there!

I started with a pretty blank slate...

This artwork will be a nice foundation to styling the side table and most importantly leaves

a lot of room to add a little color!

The pansy on top I sketched and the dragon on bottom was found at a vintage store. The frame was originally green and I painted it black.

I am getting excited to add more accessories!

I am totally obsessing over vintage Kantha quilts! One Kings Lane had some for sale a few weeks ago and I didn't pull the trigger. I still wasn't quite sure what color direction I was going in the bedroom so I didn't buy! I am a little bummed out but Ebay and Etsy have

some good selections!

This image is from Niki Jones and unfortunately, they aren't for sale anymore. But this is absolutely what I picture when I think of Kantha quilts.

Styling Tips:

-Fold it at the end of a bed or use it as a bedspread for a twin

-Lay it across the back of a couch to bring a little punch of pattern

-Cut into pieces and frame to use as a series of artwork
