With all of this waiting, I have had a lot of time to brainstorm on projects for the house (probably a little too much!). Since we are doing the basement first (the drinking & TV room), I need to nail down some flooring..that was a pretty good pun! I had originally thought we would do some type of laminate or engineered flooring but I am a little worried about Sassy the lab and her "claws" on the floor. I was in Lowe's over the weekend and came across some wood ceramic tile, which I had seen before but forgotten about. Do any of you have experience with this? Have it in your own house or have seen it in a friend's?
I think it will warm up the space nicely while being water and dog friendly.
Thoughts? Opinions? Warnings?

That's like the best of both worlds! We have bamboo flooring in our condo and although its gorgeous....its a pain to care for. Love this idea!
I definitely think it's smart that you are considering your pup and wear and tear- I think this is a great option that is still really pretty!
My only piece of advice about basements and flooring is that you may want to wait until you have experienced a heavy rain, etc. All of these old houses in our area are prone to surprises! We moved in to our house in March 09 and promptly did the basement only to have it flood and need a re-do one year later. So, a few foundation braces, new walls, floor, ceiling, paint and many, many, many thousands of dollars later, our basement is done (again. )
I haven't seen it in person, but I love the way it looks online! Plus, it'd probably be easier to clean. I'm definitely looking into this for our next home! Plus, if Sarah Harrison is right, and your basement floods, it will with stand water WAY better than wood.
I've never seen this stuff! Thanks for posting about it. We have dog concerns as well. I'm going to keep this in mind!
I have seen it on HGTV and is looks great installed.
Wow, I have never heard of this! We have new floors in our near future and I was thinking of the laminate/engineered wood route as well, but had concerns of wear. I will have to look into this! Thanks!
I have been wanting to try it myself. I think they look great. I can't wait to see how you like it!
I had never even heard of wood tile, but love the look! Who knew??! I think it would be a great alternative.
I love the look, I think I would go with either the lightest one or the darkest one ;)
Ha! An excellent pun my dear. I love the look of this wood tile, so beautiful! I believe I saw this on Property Brothers and I loved the result. My only apprehension is that it might be a little chilly during the winter if it is a below-grade basement, but a couple lovely area rugs would solve that no problem!
I had never even heard of wood ceramic tile-it looks beautiful in the photo! I have had light wood floors and think I lean towards dark on these colors. Thanks for sharing!
Definitely will go dark!
True! It's hard to think about winter right now but will definitely need some rugs!
Isn't it awesome! I am pretty excited about it!
It might be a few weeks but I will be sure to let you guys know how it goes!!
Yes! Lowe's has an option for $2 square foot that looks like handscraped wood! Loved it!
Good thought!! DEF. don't want to be in that situation!
I have been hunting for something new for our kitchen, and this could be just the thing! Laminate sounds like it wouldn't work well in there because of kitchen wear & tear, but I don't really want the look of regular tile... So I'm definitely going to check this out - thanks for sharing.
Amazing! We are finishing our attic this year, and I'm so excited to find out about these! Sounds like a great idea, especially with rugs over it to add some texture.
