Happy Monday! A couple of my girlfriends were in town for the weekend and one of them brought her gel nails kit, which is similar to shellac (thanks, Dal!). I tried it out and I am officially hooked. In fact, I love it so much I wanted to share with you guys even though this isn't my normal "genre" if you will. Hope you like it!
Supplies:
Nail File
Gel Base Coat
Gel Color Coat
Gel Top Coat
UV Light
Alcohol (NOT Acetone)
The first step is to use the black side of the file to buff your nails a bit so the base coat has a rougher area to stick to.
After buffing, put on the base coat.
Then, put each hand in the light for 1 minute.
Then two coats of the color, using the light for 1 minute on each hand after the first coat and after the second coat.
Then one coat of the top and 1 minute of light after on each hand.
Lastly, the magic step. Take rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and rub it on your nails like you are trying to take off the polish. This removes the film on the nails.
Now you are done!! So pretty!
Has anyone else tried this at home? I would love to know!
**A big thank you to Katie for being my hand model!

Make sure you do a follow up post and let us know how long the polish lasts! Coming from someone who never paints her nails b/c it chips too fast...I'm loving this new trend!
I'm hooked on gel manicures, too! It's so nice for your manicure to actually last!
My friend just picked up the kit a couple of weeks ago. I want one!! It makes so much more sense then going to the salon.
I'd also love to see how they look after awhile! I might actually use color on my nails if it didn't chip constantly.
So cool! I wondered how that was done at home. I love taking care of my nails but I hate the upkeep every week... gel seems like a better longer lasting alternative! Thanks for sharing doll! xo
P.S. I'm your 200th follower ;) congrats!
Love the color! Be careful of the grow out it can lift and then just annoy lol.
Follower 201! Holler lol

I am totally hooked on the gel manicures because I hate when my nailpolish chips! Did you do these at home?
I WANT ONE OF THESE! I'm constantly getting my nails done, it's kind of a problem. I spend way too much money on getting manicures/pedicures every 2 weeks so think I could actually save money by buying something like this!! Do you know how much your friend bought hers for & where??
OMG, sounds amazing!! I would love to try shellac or gel! Nail polish chips on me in like 12 hours. Does it last forever?!
I also have the gelish kit and lamp! Bought it online last year! The only problem is that my UV light is not as strong as the one the kit recommends (because I bought it separately) and I have to leave my nails for longer. So buy the UV light that the kit recommends so you can avoid not knowing how long should they be in.
